FAMILY TRIP

``

We learned a lot on this little family trip. Like for one, Michael could be Walt Disney's son. But really, the resemblance is uncanny and I'm thinking we should have used this to our advantage. Free ice cream? Which brings me to an issue we faced during that short week, we have a major weakness for ice cream treats from the Disney parks. We lose all self control, and for some reason give in, even though it's only worth like half or less of the price we paid for it.

Another thing, is Ben should really consider never going outside on the last day of any vacation he finds himself. Because despite all our preparations to protect him from the sun (SPF 30, and waiting at least 15 min before going in the water) he somehow got a sunburn in only the places his T-Shirt would cover. This was especially odd, because those were the same precautions we took all week (he made it clearly known he has a low pain tolerance for sunburns) and managed to remain sunburn free. So call it whatever you will, but if I was him, I'd be a little superstitious and stay indoors the final day just to be safe. Or get an awesome over sized t-shirt to where in the water.

Also, don't visit St. Augustine after 5:00 p.m.-- Unless you like strange encounters, and an old man who hates America (which I find humorous because he lives in the oldest city in America). Other than that, beautiful city with inspiring architecture.

Ever since this trip, I have become the sole definition of a bookworm. My reading increased 100% the past month. It has been one of those come to moments, like "I can't believe I have been missing out on all this literate goodness for so long." I guess that is to be expected when you are going to school and only have time for text books. Michael and I have both made an oath to make reading a priority this summer.

Now I am just adjusting back to reality. Which for me seemed to be an easy task, compared to Michael. I begin each morning with an episode of SNL or something funny (because laughing is good for the soul), and then when the girls wake up we do whatever we feel like doing that day (these are the kinds of things a Nanny does). Michael goes to the office. It sounds so "Mad Men" like and is strangely attractive when I say it out loud. Although he claims he really does like it there, I feel like I got the better end of the stick when it comes to summer jobs.

What it all comes down to, is that summer is good. We hope it goes slow, but that never seems to be the case.

Below are the rest of the photos from Florida. I can't get enough of these crazy hooligans I get to call family. Most importantly my wonderful parents who invited us along. They are two of a kind, and I feel so fortunate to call them my mom and dad.
